Languages have always been a part of my life. It all started with English, fueled by my teenage obsession with pop music – I practically learned every lyric by heart! Then, my parents, recognizing the value of languages, encouraged me to tackle German.
Initially, German seemed like a mountain to climb. The grammar was a labyrinth, and the pronunciation a tongue twister. But my incredible teacher ignited a passion for languages within me, a passion that led me to become a language teacher myself! The journey didn't stop there. I devoured courses in Spanish and Dutch, achieving fluency in both. And now? My language learning adventure continues – I'm exploring Swedish, Russian, Chinese, and even Klingon with the help of Duolingo!
European languages present fewer challenges. Their grammar and vocabulary often share similarities. But languages like Russian, Bulgarian, Chinese, and Arabic introduce a whole new level of complexity. Mastering their alphabets, pronunciations, and often unfamiliar sentence structures requires extra effort.
While a dedicated teacher remains irreplaceable in my opinion, apps like Duolingo have become fantastic tools. They keep learning playful and engaging, helping me grasp basic structures and build a strong vocabulary foundation.
