Fascinating Facts of Germany: Carnival, Potatoes, and School Trips!

Hello everyone!  Today, we're talking about Germany and the things that fascinate me most about this country.  Maybe you've already had some experiences with German culture yourselves?

**Carnival: Costumes, Confetti, and Candy!**

Let's talk about Carnival first!  In Germany, Carnival, also called Fasching, is a huge party celebrated for weeks before the start of Lent.   Imagine streets full of people in colorful costumes, singing, dancing, and throwing candy (Kamelle)!   There are even special Carnival parades with amazing floats and music.   I love the happy atmosphere and the creativity of the costumes.  Have you ever celebrated Carnival?

**Schnitzel and Potato Salad: Delicious Food for Any Day!**

Of course, food can't be left out!   One dish that I simply find fantastic is Schnitzel with potato salad.  A crispy, breaded Schnitzel and creamy potato salad next to it – a perfect combination!  But German cuisine offers so much more.   From fresh rolls for breakfast to delicious cakes and pastries – there's something delicious for everyone.

**School Holidays: More Breaks to Learn and Explore!**

Another interesting feature I find fascinating is school holidays in Germany.  Compared to Greece, where there are only long summer holidays, German students have several breaks throughout the year.   I think this gives students the opportunity to take breaks in between, recharge, and maybe even travel and learn something new.   Perhaps your countries have special school holiday times as well?

**Discovering Germany: Worth the Trip!**

Germany is a country with so much to offer – from cultural festivals to delicious food to an interesting school system.   Maybe you'll even have the chance to visit Germany one day and experience these fascinating facets firsthand!

**Why not try out a German recipe or ask your teachers about German customs?**

See you soon, and have fun learning German!
