This is a very special day. It's a day to remember the stray animals that are still waiting at the shelters or even the ones that are still in the streets.
This movement has begun through Helen Woodword Animal Center, a non-profit organisation in San Diego that has been helping animals for 40 years now.
For 6 years now this day is consdered an International day.
What can you do on this day?
Visit an animal shelter / donate / adopt an animal / Raise awareness / tag your favorit animal charity or center for example Stray Planet in Thessaloniki Greece
What can you do with your students?
Show them pictures of stray animals - they can describe them or ask about their current situation (using adjectives / present continuous / present perfect tenses). Read the story of a stray or an adopted animal. A wonderful example is Tales of Strays written and illustrated by my friend and colleague Margarita Kosior and her daughter (which happens to be a former student of mine as well).
Some little lives need us.
