International Strange Music Day was created by Patrick Grant, who is a New York City musician. The idea is simple: to have people play and listen to types of music they have never heard before.
How to celebrate this day:
Find strange songs, music from other countries, a instument or strange lyrics. Have the children guess the sounds or the meaning of the lyrics
- Print the lyrics of a strange song and cut the paper into pieces. Have the students put the song into the correct order.
- Students can also research strange / rare musical instruments and present their findings in class.
- With older teens or adults, you can analyze the meaning of the song / have them look up vocubulary or slang expressions
As always... Have fun!
