Is taking pictures a crime?

My friend teacherdude was brutaly beaten up by MAT (riot squad) just because he was taking pictures of them.
They started hitting him without warning...
I really don't know if it is illegal to take pictures of police during their work. But I am sure that nobody deserves being beaten up unless they are terrorists of some kind!!
They didn't arrest him, they just let him off with a dislocated arm, a broken nose and many cuts and bruises...
You can see him and the pictures he took over here and judge for yourselves!
I wish you a quick recovery...

What anyone can say...We pay them to protect us and look what's happening. I suppose they simply found the easy target, or maybe they thought he was a journalist or something.

I am very sorry for what happened to your friend... It seems that the Greeks are so very generous that they would go on .....silent protest marches dressed in black ! Give me a break ! The demonstration which looked like a south american soap opera had one single aim : to damage the image of Constantinos Karamanlis. The sad thing is ...that they went on a so called protest march ! The sad thing is that they got dressed in black in order to ...protest against the fire victims ! That was their fine disguise ! In actual fact , they were protesting against Karamanlis and , believe me , they couldn't care less about the fire victims ! Pretending to mourn ...the demonstration was supposed to be silent right ? Was it ?

It was during the demonstreations in front of the international fair, so I guess it has nothing to do with the silent demostration...

As far as I know, there were a lot of fights between police and protestants during or after the protest march. Please correct me if I am wrong. So, I thought your friend got injured there...But regardless of the type of demonstration, fanatism has solved problems. I do hope your friend is feeling better now.
