board games...

Not an original idea and it does take time during the lesson ....
But... on the other hand it is fun, it is interesting, children love it and they do produce language...
What a better way to practice face parts playing "Guess who?"
Giving directions using Monopoly - or just play it by the rules and ask and answer questions, give and take money etc...
Taboo is also great with teenagers- adult students...
You can make your own vocabulary cards according to your lessons...
The choices are unlimited... Just use your imagination...

Do you like to play board games yourself? I do like it. I also have Monopoly. But it takes such a long time to play it to the end, isn't it a bit too long for playing it during a lesson? Taboo I only know by its name, but I do not have it and I think I played it only 1 or 2 times many many years ago. Who is it? I played with a child many many years ago, too. Oh, I have another idea how about the card game UNO? Your students could practise the colours and numbers.

Fantastic ideas Theodora! Board games can constitute an excellent ice breaking or ending activity! They can even be used somewhere in the middle. Imagination sets the limits as you said.

There are so many things we can try do make our lessons interesting... I just hate it when teachers cannot do anything without their coursebook...
