Back to... "work"

September again and as usual time for teachers to see what they are going to do for the next year!
As usual, some of us have been employed full time at a state school with the price of relocation, some of us are waiting to work for a few hours at a state school ( everybody admits that the pay and the conditions are awful and sometimes they have to pay on their own for the fares to get there, but they do it anyway, in order to get the desirable "points")
And the rest of us are trying to find a part-time-job at a private language school. And if you are young, you have many prospects to find something, if you're not so young, like me, then you end up home with empty hands and a whole lot free time!!!
Experienced teachers are not wanted anymore because of the "high" pay!!!
I have been in various job interviews lately... one school owner told me that I am too old to be enthusiastic with small children (I am 37 btw) and another one told me that because I am 37 and the school is a bit far from my home she didn't want to hire me! This means that if I were younger and the school was still far, she would hire me? This is ridiculous!!!
Anyway... I wish everybody, my colleagues, my private students and their parents a great school year!!!

Dora! You are not old! Don't let the people tell you this into your mind! Will you have private students at least?

thx Jenny for your support!! I have a couple of private students, yes, but it doesn't help as far as insurance is concerned...

Now yes! That's ridiculous! If you are old at 37 then what would they say about a 51-year-old teacher like me for example? I guess something like "go home granny!" Heh heh. The sad thing is that most private language schools are turning into big businesses, what matters most is the NUMBER of students who enrol and hardly anyone cares about these kids. Experienced teachers are either too...old or too expensive or they lack enthusiasm! Very pathetic! I only wish you lived nearer my language school!! Have a super weekend and enjoy your new home! Hope you will post some photos soon!!!

Thx my dear Anastasia! We have talked about this I guess before! It's time to turn page and see what I can do from now on in my life and it's not going to be employee at a language school!! As far as the pics from the new home are concerned, I'll post some whenever we are ready! We're more like gypsies at the moment!

Why not open your own school Theodora? This is an option too perhaps? I'm seriously considering this lately for myself. I'm fed up with a lot of things..how life is difficult depending only on one person to bring in the income OR not receiving enough as an employee at some other private school. I'm seriously considering it if it's worth it..(but who is to tell you it is or not? I wish I knew).
