Thanksgiving

Although we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Greece, I always thought that is is a really great custom and it's really a pity that we don't have something like that in Greece.

So this year now, that I actually have many children in my classes I decided to do something about it!
Of course I couldn't stand on the "religious" ideas of the day, so my project was based mainly on food and the idea of being thankful...

I used some handouts from http://www.onestopenglish.com - they have wonderful stuff about anything you can imagine about the food part ( children also expressed themselves about family gatherings and eating traditions/habbits)

The next step was making a poster with Thanksgiving pictures and students wrote the reasons they are thankful. I couldn't believe in my eyes that my pupils could think of such wonderful things to say.

Here is some of their work:
" I am thankful because I have got food to eat, water to drink, home to live and the affection from my parents"

"I'm thankful because I am healthy and I have got family and lots of friends"

"I'm thankful because my family loves me and helps me"

I enjoyed going back to work this year for many reasons...
One of them was Maria... If I hadn't accepted this job I wouldn't have met her and I wouldn't have met the rest of the band!!
They are just wonderful!!! Bravo guys!!!

I usually don't watch Junior Eurovision - this time I sat down with Yianni and had the time of my life commenting on the children and the songs!
Until I heard this song - Although the singer / composer is very young, he captured very "mature" feelings ... A big bravo (it doesn't matter that it didn't win!)
The language is Flemmish ( Yes! I do understand that language, too)
Especially dedicated !!!!

These are my notes from Goethe Institut Seminar by Mrs Angelika Kubanek, Professorin für Englischdidaktik und Interkulturelles Lernen, TU Braunschweig

Theme of the seminar:

In der Schlüsselstudie zum frühen Sprachenlernen für die Europäische Kommission (2007) gab es eine Reihe von Empfehlungen, u.a. zur besseren Umsetzung in die Praxis und zur Qualitätserhöhung bei Lehr-Lernprozessen.
In diesem Workshop wird es darum gehen, wie das mit Hilfe von visuelem Material geschehen kann.
Folgende Aspekte sollen aufgegriffen werden.

• Visuelle Lerner und Bild-Denker erkennen
• Vorwissen der Kinder über Sprachen veranschulichen
• Lehrbücher im Hinblick auf Layout und Illustrationen analysieren
• Bilder nutzen, um die äußerungslänge zu erhöhen
• Sinnvolle Aufgaben zu Internet Seiten stellen
• Bilder im Internet Zeitalter auf Authentizität untersuchen
• Neue Bilderbücher aus der zeitschrift "Frühes Deutsch" empfehlen

Umweltverschmutzung (von Vaso)

Heutzutage gibt es ein großes Problem das mit der Umweltverschmutzung zu tun hat. Als erstes, sind die Leute nicht öko-bewusst und si benutzen viele Autos und elektrische Geräte, die schädlich für die Umwelt sind. Wir müssen auch berichten, dass viel Mühl neben den Wäldern geworfen ist. Es ist zu gefährlich denn es ist wahrscheinlich, das Feuer anfängt.

Es gibt auch viele Fabriken, die schädliche Abgase produzieren und die Natur verschmutzen. Diese Werke sind auch verantwortlich für die Temperaturen, die höher werden und haben als Ereignis, dass die Schmeltzwindigkeit schneller wird.

Wenn wir die Umwelt retten wollen, können wir mehr Informationen über die Organisationen, die dieses Ziel haben und daran teilnehmen, oder wir können alternativer Energie benutzen
