Skin Privilege

Synopsis
It's no simple case of murder. Lena Adams has spent her life struggling to escape her past. She has only unhappy memories of Reece, the small town which nearly destroyed her. She's made a new life for herself as a police detective in Heartsdale, a hundred miles away - but nothing could prepare her for the violence which explodes when she is forced to return. A vicious murder leaves a young woman incinerated beyond recognition. And Lena is the only suspect. When Heartsdale police chief Jeffrey Tolliver, Lena's boss, receives word that his detective has been arrested, he has no choice but to go to Lena's aid - taking with him his wife, medical examiner Sara Linton. But soon after their arrival, a second victim is found. The town closes ranks. And both Jeffrey and Sara find themselves entangled in a horrifying underground world of bigotry and rage - a violent world which shocks even them. A world which puts their own lives in jeopardy. Only Jeffrey and Sara can free Lena from the web of lies, betrayal and brutality that has trapped her. But can they discover the truth before the killer strikes again? European Version

Italian nights...

Cose Della Vita (Cant Stop Thinking Of You) - Eros Ramazzotti duet with Tina Turner

Strolling down Marmaras and we find this small Italian pizzeria - we could not resist...

Marmaras

Marmaras

Marmaras is about 15 km away from Toroni and that's where all the action is! Clubs, bars, discos, cafes, everything's here!!!
When I was a kid, we used to take the bus - the only problem was that we couldn't come back to the village at night so we had to wait until dawn for the first bus back!!!!
Still crowded in our days... A great way to spend your evening while on holiday though!

Likithos and Ancient Toroni

As it is my last time officially over here, I thought I could share some memories, showing places which are really familiar to me. This will be one of my first attempts to video blog! I hope everything goes alright and I am waiting for your feedback!

jumpcut movie:Likithos

Historical facts:

Toroni is located at the Southwest of Sithonia peninsula. It was founded by Halkidis of Evoia during the 8th –7th century b.c. In 480 b.c. the town helped the Persians against the expedition of Xerxis against Greece and few years later became a member of the Athenian alley.
During the Peloponnesian War, according to Thoukidides (Th. IV 110-116 and V2-3) it became the battleground of the Athenians and the Spartans. Many excavations took place in the area since 1975 by the Archeological Company in cooperation with the Australian Institute under the supervision of Prof. Al.
Kabitoglou.

The harbor of Toroni is believed to have been located at the east of Likithos, a small cape which today is 13 meters above the level of the sea, at the South of the ancient town, due to the existence of a cove and of some marine relics. Likithos was inhabited at intervals, from the Cooper Era to the 17th century a.c., and is a very important part of the town’s history, as it is connected to a narrow isthmus, which as it is proved by a recent submarine research, used to be wider.

During the three periods of submarine researches in Toroni, which had a preliminary nature, it was obvious that the current coastal area at the northeast of the isthmus consisted of a part of the town’s town planning, with a small hypsometric difference, regarding the region where Likithos is found today.

In the sea, at a distance of 35m from the current coastline and almost parallel to it there is a seawall of about 60m length, and of about 2m width, which has cornerstones from granite at various points. Its interior is made of a brecciated material, probably artificial. At the south of this seawall, at a distance of 20m from the sea, a second similar construction of 80m length shows the existence of a second coastline, which was created earlier than the first one.

The research was focused on the south of the eastern part of the seawall’s internal, where three rocky stones are at their place, and proved that these are seated at the aforementioned integral material. Upright to them, at the North-South another wall made of big stones was found at a height of at least three structures. . In the corner, which shapes among them, they’ve found many shards of amphora of classic years. Wall foundations from brick clay, with width that varies from 0,50 to 0,65m and with direction SW-BE, are also distinctive at the bottom of the sea. They are believed to be dated to the classic era because of the ceramics (mainly by its color) found during the cleaning of the walls, which were built on the current beach and belong to buildings initially built on the shore. An extensive destructive layer of roof –tile shards, dyed in red and black that covers the coastal region at the north of the C walls, belongs to a building phase of the classic era. It contains such an important number of vessels, mainly for warehouse purposes (jars, amphorae), that an explanation of these coastal buildings with areas that are connected to the operation of the harbor does not seem impossible.

Back to the familiar places...

And here we go again!
I had promised myself I would never go back...
Too many memories...
But unfortunately I have to.
Just this once, one more time...
(Σαν το τραγούδι!! Κι'όμως είμαι ακόμα εδώ κι αυτό το καλοκαίρι!!!)

Some time last year I had been talking about teacher burnout and that I needed a break! I used to complain about language school owners, low pays and non motivated students!!
I've had my break and now it is worse actually! I'm in a total blackout!!!

After I get back I will put things in order!
But now I will just do nothing!! Just relax on the beach with my crossword puzzles and my brand new crime book and no internet connection!!!
(Of course I'll be posting some pics over here from my mobile as always - yes I am that addicted!!)
Break from the break!!!
Have a great summer everybody!
I'll be back!!!

Perea

A wonderful evening yesterday and I got the chance to visit Perea, a small suburb a few kilometres outside the city...

It brought back to me so many memories - when I was about 18-20, we used to take the bikes and come over here for a drink or coffee.

Of course, it was just a small village near the sea back then

This is the cafe we used to go, it is deserted now...

But the place with the little cheese pies is still there!!!
